Doug Hyde Art

 

Born in Bristol, Doug Hyde has become a successful artist across the globe. He has recently returned from Japan where he completed a sell-out tour. In 2005 he won the Fine Art Trade Guild Best Selling Published Artist and then in 2007 won the recognition of the most popular living artist in the UK. Despite his success Doug Hyde has remained grounded, his passion and enthusiasm for life are the basis for his sell out prints. His artwork has been a way for him to express himself and he insists it was never his intention to sell his work. He produced his work for his own enjoyment only and 10 years on he continues to do the same.

 

Doug Hyde has always had a love for art spending much of his youth experimenting with different styles and techniques. Inspiration for his current work comes from his family. Doug's love for his wife, three children and dog is evident in his warm loveable characters depicted in his limited edition prints and sculptures. The appeal of his work is universal as his work reflects emotions and experiences in life that everyone can relate to. Often viewers can identify the characters to themselves or the people in their lives.

 

Doug uses his fingers and hands to smudge the pastels and the finished result is always a bright contemporary piece of art. His use of pastels and his bold style have resulted in his work becoming highly collectable with many older editions selling for triple the original retail price.
